Subway in the Union


The Subway in the Union has been open for a couple of weeks now, but the continue to grow. During high traffic hours the line is out of the door, but student will wait due to the low prices.

Ole Miss men's soccer is still kicking

Even though men's soccer is just a club sport, it does not keep them from practicing until their shirts fall off. These ball kickers had their first practice Thursday night at the Ole Miss intramural fields.

No More Construction Work

Today is the last day of construction work near the J.D. Williams Library on the Ole Miss campus. Since the start of school, construction workers have been hard at work paving new sidewalks on campus.

Students Jaywalk and Cause Traffic

On Friday at noon a long line of traffic formed outside of Hume and Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. Students at Ole Miss choose to take the quickest route to class, even if that causes traffic problems for others.

Luke Bryan Returns to Oxford


Luke Bryan returned to The Lyric theatre on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. to entertain the Oxford community. Everyone dressed for the occasion in their cowboy boots and hats!

Although there were many doubts about Ole Miss being able to play their new quarterback, Jeremiah Masoli, as game day arrived he was allowed to play and make his way down the famed Walk of Champions.

This year's 2010 incoming freshman class set a new record for students attending ole miss. The school has begun construction on several new buildings as well as renovation of older ones.

Dude Where's My Car...

With Ole Miss having the highest enrollment class ever, its tough to find a parking spot anywhere, especially the square. Plans are being looked at to expand parking, which will help out everybody at the square on late nights.

More Freshman, More Drama


There was chaos in Crosby Thursday night when a freshman girl was returned to the dormitory, unresponsive, after a night of partying on fraternity row. Members of the University Police Department as well as EMTs were there to survey the situation and provide medical attention. The unidentified girl was transported in an ambulance to Baptist Memorial Hospital.

Expanding The Turner Center

With school only kicking off weeks ago, the Turner Center continues to be packed. Girls have complained of waiting on ellipticals and treadmills for over thirty minutes at a time. This has been a problem in the past, and the question of when the Turner Center will be expanded is constantly asked.

Bouncers and Security Crack Down

After The Lyric was fined and bartenders were arrested last weekend for serving alcohol to minors. Tj, who is a bouncer at Roosters, who is shown above says, "We are really having to check ids closer and take a second look at everyone and their id." It is easy for minors to slip right by bouncers or have a great fake license, but bouncers and security are working to prevent this from happening in the future.

Monday through Friday, Custodians employed by the University of Mississippi clean the bathrooms, and kitchens of all dormitories. The stove on the first floor of Guess Hall (pictured right)have many residents questioning how much Custodians are required to do.

International student shows his talent by singing popular Japanese song at the Luckyday Residential College's first open mic night held by the resident assistants. With loads of participation, resident assistants are enthused about having more student affairs in the residence hall.

Stop, Drop and Roll

Oxford Fire Department Officials responded Thursday night to a grease fire at Coop De Ville, 2035 University Ave. Employee April Howaland said she called 911 as a precaution after a fryer caught fire. No one was injured, and the business wasn't damaged.

After losing to Jacksonville State (49-48), Ole Miss's 6'6 tall defensive end Gerald Rivers says, " I hope to improve in the next game to make people forget about our loss." Ole Miss will be playing Tulane University in New Orleans 0n Sept. 11.

The Grove Is Ready for Gameday!

The University prepares for tomorrow's season opener versus Jacksonville State by filling the Grove with red and blue trash cans. Even though the Rebels aren't scheduled to kick off until 2:30pm, the Grove will be start filling up early in the morning with anticipation for the game.

Ole Miss' "Go Green" campaign seems bleak at best.


University hones in on high energy costs caused by negligence during summer months, and strongly encourages students to conserve and recycle.

Preparation for the 2010 Ole Miss Football/Tailgating Season Begins

With the first home football game approaching in about 24 hours, everyone prepares for the thousands of fans, students and visitors visit to the grove. Every home football game the grove is covered with tents, food and fellowship. September 4, 2010, is expected to be the same way. Around 10 p.m. tonight the grove will soon begin to become filled with tents waiting for the arrival of anxious fans tailgating awaiting kick-off time at 2:30.

Ole Miss Math Lab Overflows With Students Waiting to Get in

On Thursday afternoon, students waited in line to enter the Kinard math lab for up to an hour. Record enrollment in 2010 has many classrooms filled to capacity and in some cases, overcrowded.

Poster Sale Returns



The annual poster and artwork sale is upon us again. Students have crowded around the tables of endless posters looking for that right one to hang in their dorms or apartments. The posters are priced reasonably well, and start around six dollars apiece. They offer everything from average music and movie posters to nice prints of landscapes.

Derek Edmond Entertains UM Students

Country music performer, Derek Edmond, entertains UM students in front of the Student Union Thursday afternoon. The entertainment was sponsored by Union Unplugged. Students sat underneath shade trees and enjoyed their lunch as they listened to Edmond perform a variety of cover songs.

Students Stock Up On Colonel Reb Gear

Cat Daddy's employee, Autumn Wren says, "Sales are have increased 100 percent since the stop of printing Colonel Red on t-shirts". As of August 31, 2010, former Ole Miss mascot, Colonel Red will not be printed on any items related to the university. The University of Mississippi has not yet declared a new mascot.

College Football is Back

A new season of Ole Miss football starts up this Saturday vs. Jacksonville State. The Rebels will be heading in to a difficult schedule this year, traveling to Tuscaloosa, Baton Rouge and Knoxville. Oxford will host big games against Auburn, and rival Mississippi State. The grove should be the place to be this weekend as college football gets in gear.

Ring the Alarm!







Students waited in the parking lot of Guess Hall as firefighters rushed in after a fire alarm went off on Thursday afternoon. The burnt food in a residents microwave caused enough smoke to call the fire department but did not cause any imminent danger.

Expansion? Maybe?

At noon, students gather to have lunch in the overly crowded student union, this triggers a very interesting question; should the union be expanded to accommodate more students?



Ole Miss Students Give Back


“I’m type blood O+.” David Russell, a student at The University of Mississippi says when asked his reasoning for stopping in-between classes to give blood outside The Student Union. David’s blood type is universal, He can only give blood to people with A+, B+, and AB+ blood types, but hecan only be administrated blood by someone with the same Blood Type O+.
